Après les accords de Munich de 1938, qui imposent à la Tchécoslovaquie la cession des Sudètes, l'Allemagne nazie occupe en mars 1939 le reste des terres tchèques et y instaure le Protectorat de Bohême et Moravie, un régime fantoche sous administration allemand direct.
Ses timbres bilingues allemand-tchèque ("Böhmen und Mähren" / "Cechy a Morava"), illustrent souvent le patrimoine architectural local - ici le château gothique de Zvikov, perché sur son éperon rocheux au confluent de la Vlatava et de l'Otava, en Bohême du Sud.
